WA: Work begins on WA s artificial surfing break

PERTH, Feb 7 AAP - Humans are stepping in where nature has failed in a bid to give Perth
surfers the perfect wave.

Work began today on Western Australia's first artificial reef, which the state government
is hoping will provide enhanced waves for surfers and a classic right and left break.

In a project prompted by a shortage of top surf sports in Perth, the Cables Station
Artificial Reef will be built using the latest technology, including wave climate analysis to
enhance waves.
