A 10 per cent loading of a micro-scale filler in the new Borcom WG 140AI microcomposite grade of PP from Borealis is said to significantly reduce moulding weight. Weight savings of between 8 and 24 per cent are claimed over traditional PP compounds, not only lowering part costs, but also reducing the cost of transport, storage and materials handling.
Borealis is aiming the new material at white goods and automotive interior parts.
