Fed: Reality check needed over superhero ban
CANBERRA, Aug 22 AAP - The prime minister has no recollection of ever donning a Supermancostume while he was a little boy.
But as a dad, he threw superhero parties for his children and is baffled why some childcarecentres would ban such icons as Batman and Wonderwoman.
"That is political correctness gone mad," John Howard said on Melbourne radio 3AW this morning.
Melbourne childcare centres have banned crime-fighting superheroes including Superman,Batman, SpiderMan and the Hulk.
The centres claim superhero costumes transform children into super villains by encouragingaggressive play.
But parents, childcare experts and the prime minister disagree.
"That is just ridiculous, it's like you know prohibition in some centres on Christmascarols," Mr Howard said.
"We are losing control of reality, what is wrong with this."
